classic TRON – Captain Koril

Look at what I got!
Only been trying to win this thing for…months…I don’t even know how long. It is solid resin, in four pieces, and I have a lot of work to do before I can even paint the thing, but FINALLY TANK.

What I’ve been working on this weekend.

The jacket is two sizes too big for me, but I was having trouble finding anything in grey. I added the red on the sleeves.

I bought dish towels today. They were hanging next to each other in the store and I just sort of burst out laughing like a crazy person and nabbed one of each.

I was playing with Sculpey today.

This is great! But…is the belt on backwards?

WarGames (1983)

Not one, but two TRON games at this arcade.

Woahhhhhhhhhhhhh. In Tron Legacy Flynn references WarGames in his talk with Sam – “the only way to win is not to fight" – but if Tron the arcade game exists in WarGames that means that Encom is a huge game company in that universe and Flynn can be all smug that his games can be seen in a popular film. But if we assume that Tron the arcade game was made by Midway and not Encom, the realities of the two films become entwined in some bizarre infinite loop.

It’s actually “It’s his game now. The only way to win is not to play” referencing the quote "A strange game…the only winning move is not to play" from WarGames. I had the same thought, though. This could make some interesting fanfic if someone were so inclined.

When I decided to make a Clu 1 costume, I foolishly didn’t take into consideration that -this- is what I would be staring at for hours on end.

Today was just about 16 different flavors of strange, guys. It was awesome. I watched Legacy, did some RP, got a new T-shirt, ended up introducing someone to Classic Tron, and we had a party, and played Toss the Bit, and all three of us ended up running around in the backyard at 11 pm by the light of Tron’s identity disc.

I am completely down with doing this again next year.
