If you want to break the loop…

On your way to the cargo bay to rescue Marta, stand in front of the lift (close enough that the dialogue appears). Pause the game, and then click the lift dialogue. When the pause timer runs out, you will go down the lift and it should give you an accolade and the mission should actually be possible to resolve!
