My GLaDOS dash did a thing.

I also discovered that my favorite pair of headphones can do this, and they are now my even more favorite pair of headphones.
“So what’s it like to be back home after so long away?”
Me: PORTAL. I’M IN THE BIRTHPLACE OF PORTAL.
I’m FINE.
I’ve spent my entire life listening to too many voices that weren’t mine. The more I hear my own, the more terrifying it is. There’s something oddly familiar about being constantly manipulated, constantly used, if it’s all you’ve ever known. I know more and more that I need to be alone. I can’t trust anyone.
“What are you doing?”
“Following my own blogs so I can scream at myself in character on the new chat system”
Excellent way to spend my time while I have internet 😀
Here is the secret to fandom:
Give zero fucks about what anyone else is doing.
Seriously. I mean it. Because inevitably you will love something that no one else loves. Or you will love something that everyone loves and people will shit all over it because it’s “so trite and unimaginative and done.” Or you will love something that no one else has ever heard of. Or you will love something dark and edgy and or obscure and people will roll their eyes and say, “What, do you want people to think you’re dark and edgy and obscure?”
Alternatively, you will not love the thing that everyone else loves, and you will wonder what precisely is wrong with you that the sight of that thing is aggravating the shit out of you now when the whole world sings its praises as one.
People will irritate you. They’ll irritate you with headcanons that make no sense and misinterpretations of canon. They will make the same jokes 500 times. They will overwhelm your corner of fandom with something you either are tired of hearing about or don’t care about. They will post art that isn’t theirs. You will meet people who think you are the greatest person ever and bombard you with messages only to wander off when they find someone new or shinier; you will meet people whom you admire and who do not really seem to notice you exist.
So give zero fucks about it. Seriously. Like what you like, blacklist what you need to blacklist, and ignore everything else. Be friends, play nice, enjoy it. And in the meantime, just do you. Like what you like, love what you love, and to hell with all the rest of it.
Preach it
When someone complains about the price of your craft item, you agree and decide to adjust the price (because it was literally the 11th hour when things were priced, mistakes were indeed made) and they get huffy and leave because “no, I know these things take time and effort to make!”
Er…ok? Let me think.
– I have screened one of my short films at a local cinema when I was a teenager. There was a technical malfunction because the theater was old and only half of the film actually played, but still, it was cool to see it all up on the big screen.
– I was almost an extra on Twilight. I actually got the first call (the “yeah we might need you!”, but never got the second one “the day-of shooting, yes get in your car and get down here call”.
– I don’t really like cutesy things. Not sure how to describe it? Things people are supposed to think are just SO ADORABLE. Animated things with high pitched voices. Things that are mostly giant eyeballs with tiny bodies. Also human babies. They look like earless Yodas to me. Or old men. I don’t actively hate them, I just don’t get it why I am supposed to feel a certain way about them.
– I have a phobia of chimpanzees and, not really a phobia, but a severe dislike of ladybugs. One day, the world will see the true evil nature of ladybugs. But I really like most other bugs, insects, arachnids, etc?
– I’ve visited half the states of the US.
– I’ve ridden Kingda Ka, the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the US (and my favorite)
– I am cold all the time unless it’s 90 degrees. Why does no one believe me when I say this. ICE. COLD.
– I’m a cosplayer. I’ve got ten characters active and/or in the process of being worked on right now.
– I was in college (at 16, because they wouldn’t let me in sooner, though I aced their damn entrance exams) to major in filmmaking until I got savagely hit with a nasty neurological illness that will probably kill me sooner than I’d like. HAPPY THOUGHTS 😀
– I like horses.
